recycled top layer
In ‘Recolored’, one of Jessica den Hartog’s earlier works, she conducted extensive research into the separation of colors and the aesthetic applications of plastic waste. By covering the top layer of the ECO-oh! boards with a granular layer sorted by color, she creates a pleasurable play with color, depth and layering on the recycled boards.
A typical feature of the ECO-oh! boards is the whimsical mix of colors created by a blend of shrink wraps, plastic bags, carrier bags and other types of plastic film. Because of the prominence of the resulting flaky pattern, it is possible to extend the scope of potential applications of the material by breaking this pattern.
