Emma Wessel experimented with ways of filling the irregularities in the board’s surface, using various methods of applying a coat of paint. While the coat of paint smoothens one side of the board’s surface – as if it were coated with filler – and makes it suited for applications that require even surfaces, the uneven discoloration also creates decorative nuances in the coating.
The application of a material is to a large extent determined by the coarseness or smoothness of its surface. Subjecting the surface to a range of different treatment techniques – giving the whole structure an even appearance – makes ECO-oh!’s composite board ideally suited for a range of functional interior design applications, bestowing decorative value to a purposely created structure.
