about the project

Stijlinstituut Amsterdam is a trend analysis agency that focuses on innovation, product design and communication in design, fashion and materials. It is led by Anne Marie Commandeur, an experienced and internationally operating trend analyst, educator and lecturer, who keeps in close connection with the young talents of today.

For Issue 127 of Textile View magazine, Stijlinstituut was to do a fabric preview on the fast paced future of fabrics for textiles and fashion. Stijlinstituut approached Sanne Schuurman of Envisions to be responsible for the curation and putting together a team to work out the creation, and visual execution of materials for this fabric preview. Envisionaires Aukje Fleur Janssen, Emma Wessel, Fabian Briels, Fred-Erik, Robin Pleun Maas and Ronald Smits worked on this project and created a series of material explorations split in nine sections for Spring/Summer 2021.

Highlighting the concept that in todays fast paced world individuals are no longer defined by a certain aspect of their identity; envisions has created materials which show how a persons multi-layered characteristics can be highlighted through the diverse, inclusive and unrestrained fabrics of fashion.
